MADDIE’S REVIEW SYSTEM
Here is where you can learn all about how I review media (books, movies, or shows) on my blog. Toward the bottom of every review I put together, there are four key points that serve as the TLDR for the review. First comes the star rating, second is whether or not I feel the media is worth your time, third you’ll find some of the best bits of the story (without spoilers), and fourth is any content concerns I have regarding the media. Read on for further explanation of these review elements! ~Maddie
1. Star Rating
One star: It was rough.
I didn’t finish it. This is pretty rare, but it does happen, and I will always specify why I couldn’t get through a story.
Two stars: It was okay.
Struggled a bit to get through this one, but I had to see it through. There’s some good stuff here, but there’s also room for improvement.
Three stars: It was good.
I enjoyed this one, but I probably won’t read/watch it again.
Four stars: It was great!
I’ll probably reread/watch this one eventually, and I can think of some specific people to pass it along to because I think they’ll really dig it.
Five stars: It was awesome!!
Amazing, sleep-stealing storytelling! It’s earned a place on my short list of true favorites. I’ll go back to this one again and again.
2. Worth Reading/Watching?
Either “yes” or “no,” sometimes with qualifiers like “with parents.”
3. Best Bits
The parts of the story that I enjoyed the most. These could be storytelling aspects, characters, or just about anything that stuck with me that I think is worth mentioning.
4. Content Concerns
If there are areas of the story that gave me pause when considering it for my own kiddos, I’ll pass those along.
