Lost in Space (Netflix version)
Sometimes you have to walk in the dark places. Sometimes it’s the only way to protect the people you love.
Earth is running out of time. The Robinson Family joins a mass exodus to the stars, looking to settle on Alpha Centauri as part of the 24th colonist group. But then, their ship is attacked and they’re pulled through a mysterious wormhole, knocking them light years off course.
They’re officially lost in space.
The Robinson Family of five faces a slew of dangers. They wind up on strange planets, encountering alien creatures, and taking on all of the challenges of navigating deep space. They even get involved in an interstellar war, and one of the enemy soldiers becomes young Will Robinson’s best friend.
All three seasons of Lost in Space are centered around the Robinsons, exploring their complex yet relatable family dynamics. Mr. and Mrs. Robinson are fighting for their marriage, and their three children’s personalities are vastly different. As a result, the Robinsons have many opportunities to grow together, and that’s before the challenges of space exploration.
The real science of the show is excellent, as well. For example, when Mr. and Mrs. Robinson’s vehicle becomes stuck in a tar pit, they have to race against the clock and use clever engineering to escape certain doom.
The true heart of this series lies in friendship, focused on the bond between an alien robot and young Will. Their friendship and the unbreakable bonds of the Robinson Family show that even in the far reaches of the galaxy, love has undeniable power.
